JFK Files Now Available: What’s Inside the Collection?

John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.

The JFK Files: A Historic Release Unfiltered

On January 23, 2025, The President of The United States signed Executive Order 14176, titled “Declassification of Records Concerning the Assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” paving the way for a long-awaited disclosure. As of March 18, 2025, the records related to President John F. Kennedy’s assassination have finally been released, offering the public a chance to explore this pivotal moment in history firsthand.

As a member of the security industry, I feel that it is my responsibility to let you know these records are out and point you straight to the United States National Archives and Records Administration. At this time, we will see major media coverage both from “Mainstream” and “New” media that will expectedly attempt to push their bias political and social agenda’s.

This Blog is in no way an endorsement of any narrative but focuses providing my readers the opportunity to see the files themselves before approaching the media for interpretations of the files.

The Release: What Happened and When

On March 17, 2025, The President of the United States issued a directive to release all previously withheld records in the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection, in line with Executive Order 14176. The next day, March 18, 2025, these records became publicly available.

What’s in the Collection

The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection is massive—over six million pages of documents, plus photographs, motion pictures, sound recordings, and artifacts. Most of these records were already declassified and accessible before this release, but the March 18 drop includes everything previously held back due to classification. The National Archives, the collection’s custodian, has been digitizing it since 2023, with efforts ramped up after Executive Order 14176.

How to Access the Records

The National Archives is hosting these records online at their dedicated webpage, updating it as more files are digitized. You can also view them in person at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland, in hard copy or analog formats. For researchers, their Plan Your Research Visit page has more details. Below, you’ll find a table with file names and direct links to the March 18 release, sorted by Record Identification Form (RIF) numbers.

The Executive Order Behind It All

Signed on January 23, 2025, Executive Order 14176 declares it’s “in the national interest to finally release all records related to these assassinations without delay.” The National Archives doesn’t declassify records itself but works with federal agencies to process and share them as directed by the President. This release fulfills that mandate for the JFK records, with more to come for RFK and MLK as agencies comply.

Limits and Legal Notes

Some records still have restrictions. Section 10 of the 1992 JFK Assassination Records Collection Act covers items under court seal or grand jury secrecy, while Section 11 protects tax return info under IRS rules or records donated by private citizens. These exceptions are narrow but worth noting as you explore the collection.

Borgen S.Y.A stance and disclaimer

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy was an abhorrent act that has greatly damaged the trust between the public, media, government and creeds. Borgen S.Y.A has no current stance or opinion on these newly released files and encourages anyone who chooses to go down this rabbit-hole to exercise patience and soundness of mind, especially when watching mainstream and online media covering this serious subject.

Stay safe.
